The Valley of the Cross is a queer fairytale about three young women living in Palestine around 1910. Herta, Emmanuel and Fanta live in Jerusalem and Haifa, two cities transitioning through the end of Ottoman Empire and the beginning of the British Mandate in Palestine, while nationalist struggles gain force.

The film was made in Brandenburg and is set in an imaginary Palestine, illustrated through the use of diverse mediums such as; theater, puppetry, landscape painting, folk music, and uses non-traditional casting to combine history with fantasy. It highlights lesbian women and marginalized people, and brings forgotten histories of a rich and diverse Palestine to life.
